A day without extraction and use of crude oil after setting up of adequate alternatives all over the world is a need of the minute. Apart from that of multi-million liters of petroleum products for fuel and power the manufacturing and use of products like plastic, artificial rubber, synthetic materials including synthetic drugs, etc matters. From basic necessities of life like food, clothing and shelter, there is a tendency to depend on petroleum products for everything.

There would be a lot of alternatives for LPG. But even the governments support usage of LPG for cooking by creating hindrances for the discovery and development of alternatives. If the food stores operated by government try to change the mode of equipment used for cooking then there would be a lot of followers for it. Some fertilizers which are manufactured by extraction of petroleum crude has a lot of alternatives with less side effects. But, it is human nature to try the easiest method for acquiring the need satisfaction. Since generation of other fertilizers or organic manures or fertilizers is a task, it is relied more on petroleum based fertilizers as it gives more yield in less time. The making of cloths including polyester depends a bit on petroleum. If alternatives like cotton would be promoted it will be a perfect experience to the nature. We have the option for hydro-electric power. Solar power is also a better option for places with adequate sunlight. But, today’s power stations are fond of power from burning fossil fuels. Items like petroleum gel which is used as a moisturizer for body has a lot of alternatives but still the profit from some brands stay steady. Some petroleum products used for making mattresses and pillows are non degradable which is used widely. Some synthetic drugs for stimulation of brain and mind are brought from some petroleum products which acts as a challenge to the entire humanity.

It is easy to speak like “we are against climate action and we need to recover”. But some small steps like non generation of fossil fuels & its associated items and instead use of alternatives would be beneficial. Air, water and soil; the environment as a whole needs to recover and human co-ordination is crucial on this behalf.
